Coalition for a District Alternative
C.o.D.A.Since 1992, we’ve been a rallying point in the
Lower East Side for progressive politics.
About Us
About Our Organization
CODA is a democratic political organization that mobilizes residents, activists, and neighborhood groups—anyone who wants to join us in struggling for political, economic and cultural power for our community and an end to discrimination based on class, race, gender, age, disability, religion, or sexual orientation. Since 1992, CODA has been a rallying point on the Lower East Side for progressive politics.
We combine community power with electoral organizing, and fight to preserve the rich diversity of our neighborhood through social justice engagement that includes solving (or addressing) local issues.
Through organizing, demonstrations, public forums, and coalition work, as well as through voter registration, lobbying, and get-out-the-vote campaigns, CODA mobilizes our community around such pressing issues as affordable housing, living-wage jobs, quality education, and stopping unjust wars.
We seek and support candidates for public office, including party officers of ability and integrity who are dedicated to the empowerment of the diverse people of our community and the goals of CODA.
